Be safe when using heat to prevent burns. For instance, don’t sleep with a heating pad turned on, and check the water temperature of a bath before stepping in.

2. Stay cautiously active

When your back aches, movement may be the last thing you want to do. However, staying inactive for too long can cause stiffness and weakness in the muscles that support your spine.
